I had the opportunity to stay in this hotel for 3 days on my recent first trip to Kuala Lumpur. I must say that I am fully satisfied and impressed with the facilities offered. The rooms are spacious with a lovely view of the city. The place is very clean and the staff are all friendly and polite. As it is centrally located in the city , commuting is easy. The breakfast buffet has a huge variety spread. Overall a comfortable and pleasant stay. Will surely recommend.
Keep up the good work 👍👍
Compared to its sister properties, I would say this one stands out as the best. Initially, I didn’t expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. The service was very prompt. Although the room wasn’t clean upon arrival, housekeeping quickly addressed the issue within minutes. Some of the interiors are a bit worn, but as long as the room is clean and comfortable, I’m satisfied.
Being located inside The Intermark is a huge plus, as you can easily find food and groceries without leaving the building. There’s also spacious parking available, provided there’s no event. The check-in and check-out process was a breeze. I definitely love this hotel.
This is a disaster; it’s definitely not a 5-star hotel, barely 3 stars at best. The room conditions are terrible—very old and poorly maintained. The carpets are dirty, and on the first day of check-in, we found someone else’s trash on the floor. The bed linens are old and have holes, the beds are very uncomfortable, the pillows smell unpleasant, and the sofa is covered in stains—it’s long overdue for a professional cleaning. The set of personal hygiene items is incomplete for a 5-star hotel; for instance, there are no razors.
The breakfasts are not bad, but there’s almost nothing European except for omelets and fried eggs. The staff is friendly, but management seriously needs to pay attention to the interior condition of the rooms. Behind the staff’s smiles lie terrible rooms.
I would have rated 2.5 stars given a choice but rounded up to 3 stars with the system limitation. Reason being I have mixed experiences on their staffs’ service level. Front desk staff were helpful and they tried their level best to ease the check in crowd. Housekeeping was also good and there’s always someone checking in to see if everything was okay. However, I wasn’t pleased with 2 things – (1) rigidity of the staff at the executive lounge at level 34 and (2) food handling.
1) On the first day of arrival, I came to know that they will only serve food at the executive lounge from 5.15pm despite the information sheet indicated from 10am to 8pm. When the food was all set up at 5.15pm, the staff insisted that guests can only help themselves from 1730, nothing earlier than that. I think that was very rigid with regards to such precise timing. Anyway, I respect their rules but I really got annoyed when I went back on the second day at 7.30pm and they had cleared all the food. I asked for a glass of wine and they refused to serve and claimed that the lounge was closed. This was absolutely unprofessional and the operating hours was simply at their convenience.
2) The breakfast spread at Makan Kitchen was good with the options of Chinese, Malay and Indian Cuisine. I was disappointed to find a plastic piece in their pickle and the service recovery they could offer was a tin of cookies. I understand that these things may happen by mistake but it concerns me if today is a child eating it and it might pose danger.
Disappointing Stay at DoubleTree by Hilton, Kuala Lumpur
My experience at DoubleTree by Hilton in KL has been one of the most confusing hotel stays I’ve ever had. Other than the room itself, it feels like there’s no “hotel” here at all. The property is incredibly inconvenient for guests, particularly when it comes to accessing the car park. To get to my room, I have to take two separate lifts and a set of escalators—and to make things worse, the escalators were not working, and the lifts often take 15-20 minutes to arrive. It’s a logistical nightmare that no guest should have to endure.
The hallways are another letdown—they feel like a depressing, poorly decorated office space rather than a hotel. There’s no ambiance or warmth; it honestly resembles a motel in some ways. The entire property feels lifeless and uninspired.
Now, let me highlight some positives. The rooms are great: spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The bathrooms are also very clean and well-maintained, which I truly appreciated. However, the rooms are not without their flaws. For instance, there are only two power outlets in the entire room—one at the bedside and one at the table. Both sides of the bed should have at least one outlet, and the existing sockets are old and loose, making it frustrating to charge devices.
I can’t comment much on the breakfast since I only tried it once, but the standout feature of this property is the staff. They were absolutely amazing—polite, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Their service was top-notch and honestly one of the few redeeming aspects of this hotel.
To sum it up, this property is ideal if you’re looking for a clean and comfortable room in a convenient location. But if you’re expecting an actual “hotel experience,” I wouldn’t recommend it. It lacks the feel of a proper hotel and is simply a building with nice rooms.
For me, this stay was a reminder that a brand name doesn’t guarantee a great experience. While the service was stellar, the property’s design and guest experience leave much to be desired. I personally won’t be returning to this property.
