  1. Everything about my stay was perfect! The hotel is clean, modern, and has such a welcoming vibe. I want to give a special thank you to one of the young male staff members (in his 20s to early 30s) who went above and beyond on Friday, 14th of March 2025, around 10:00 AM.

I accidentally left my bag (containing my passport and other essentials) at the hotel lobby. Thankfully, he noticed and kept it safe for me until I returned. I honestly can’t thank him enough for his honesty and quick action. It made such a difference to my trip, and I’m incredibly grateful.

Highly recommend this hotel, not just for the facilities, but for the wonderful staff as well!

  2. I and my partner stayed at lyf Chinatown Kuala Lumpur for three nights in February. The first room we were assigned had a moldy odor, indicating inadequate cleanliness. The staff promptly moved us to another room, but the following day, we discovered our toiletry bags soaked due to a leak, possibly from the sink or bathroom’s air conditioning unit, which was quite unpleasant. The hotel then upgraded us to a different room and offered compensation for some affected items, which was appreciated. After that, we experienced no further issues. Though, it is definitely not a 5 star hotel (maybe 3 at its best). No fridge or phone in the room. Thin walls and a bit noisy. The breakfast was tasty. The location is good. Overall, despite the initial problems, the staff’s responsiveness and the hotel’s prime location were positive aspects of our stay.

  3. Really wonderful hotel that is comfortable, clean, and friendly. The staff are very welcoming and helpful – they allowed us to make special arrangements to store our luggage when we briefly left Malaysia on another visit, for example. The rooms are simple and neat, and I found them very comfortable – there are three pillows in each room. The rooms come with good quality soap, conditioner, and shampoo. The cafe downstairs is also great, if a bit expensive, and there are no vegan food options.

My only complaints are that the music playing in the shared kitchen area is often very loud, which isn’t what you want first thing in the morning. The hotel also steps right out onto a very busy and polluted road, but the location is otherwise great and accessible. The noise from the roads and the buzzing Maybank building electricity could annoy some visitors – the hotel should work on noise isolation in the near future. For my taste, the air conditioning was excessively cold in the lobby area. Finally, a mini fridge in the rooms would be great.

  4. Stayed there 3 nights with family and found everything in order.
Rooms were cleaned and kept tidy every day.
Walking distance to China town and Central Market and small taxi ride to Boutique Bintang and others attractions.
    Tasty breakfast.
All the staff was very nice and helpful.
    Highly recommend.

  5. This is absolutely not a 5 star hotel. It’s a 3 star or good hostel at best. The rooms are fine but very basic and the bathrooms are tired (things don’t work and my shower door wouldn’t even close). The rooms are pretty bare but ok. No good views from the room either.
The gym is tiny and there’s no pool (minimum requirement for a 5 star hotel).
The communal area was closed for multiple days too, preventing paying guests from using the whole area which I think was totally unacceptable.

    Positives:
    Staff were friendly enough.
Location is great – very close to Chinatown and the markets but a bit further from Petronas and that centre of town.

Overall it’s fine for what you pay but 5 star hotel is false advertising. I would recommend paying a bit more and you could stay somewhere much nicer.
