I had issues trying to book a grab nearby and the receptionist was super friendly and helpful. She went out of her way to check in on me, allowed me to wait at the hotel reception (away from the sweltering heat) and helped me book a Grab when it didn’t work on my app. Super nice lady, very friendly and helpful even though I wasn’t a guest.
It’s a small hotel located at the entrance of Jonker Street, near the Tamil Methodist Church. It’s quite convenient to all the cafes nearby.
the place has for sure seen better days in the past. the view into the backyard of neighbouring places is not really great. there isn’t any food or drink availabkŕ⁴. the rooms are equipped with rather work and torn furniture. cleanliness Was average but I missed both. no fridge, no safe, the only thing in line with the star rating was the price. overall, following the description it’s been rather disappointing apart from the location
Location is great as is right at Jonker. Very convenient, a minute to walk to shops. Reasonable in terms of room rates for a boutique hotel. Don’t expect too much. There is free wifi.
Nothing to watch on TV, 2 channels that are in their local language. Aircon acceptable except it is noisy and makes noise when the thermostat kicks in. There’s mosquito that kept me company during my stay. So, the 2 nights I didn’t get more than 5 hours of sleep.
Room 317 we booked from 27th Dec 2024 to be in deplorable condition.
First,
– toilet bowl not cleaned properly
– shower flooded when being used due to poor drainage
– bed sheet have hair prior to sleeping on it
– damp musty smell before we enter into the room
Overall poor housekeeping
Not worth the per night price
We had a comfortable stay here months back. Staff is friendly, the guest lobby is spacious with plenty of seating (there’s a self-service refreshment too), facilities in the room are basic, beds are a little worn, but the heater and AC are working well as it should.
I think what makes this hotel stand out is its winning location. I like the idea that the front and back of the building was made very accessible to Jonker walk, making it easier for guests to navigate away from the bustling crowd. Possibly the only thing you might want to take note is the narrow yet limited parking spaces for bigger vehicle (there are 2 reserved parking spaces right in front of the hotel but one of it risk having birds on a ‘paint ball’ match on your vehicle so careful there).
Would be best to check-in earlier whenever possible and head straight for Aunty Koh cendol (just 1-min walking distance!)
