Stayed 2 nights over New Year Eve! We were so impressed with the impeccable service from Albert, the operating manager to all of his team. The room is spacious with high ceiling and top quality furnishings. Love snack room where we came back for a drink after a day of exploring Georgetown and wine and cheese hour. It’s really 5* hotel with 5+* service! We already recommended this hotel to friends!
We had a pleasure of meeting Edison’s founder and learned from him the history and the renovation project! Thanks Eddy!🙏
We recently stayed at this stunning hotel in the heart of George Town for our honeymoon, and it was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the breathtaking architecture that seamlessly blends modern design with the rich history of the area. The hotel’s commitment to conservation is evident and in excellent taste, making it a perfect reflection of the unique charm of George Town.
The location couldn’t be better—right in the middle of everything, with easy access to local attractions, shops, and restaurants.
The amenities were fantastic. A 24/7 snack bar and fridge ensured we were never without a treat or refreshment. The pool was a relaxing oasis, and there were plenty of cozy spots around the property to sit and unwind. Our room was spacious, impeccably furnished, and designed with comfort and style in mind.
What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff. Incredibly friendly and always willing to go the extra mile, they offered excellent recommendations for dining and activities. Every suggestion we tried was spot on, from delicious restaurants to a great massage spot. The security guard at the gate was a delightful presence, greeting us with a big smile and wave every time we came or went.
The staff also went above and beyond to make our honeymoon extra special. They surprised us with a celebratory cake—a thoughtful gesture that made us feel so welcome and cared for.
We only wish we could have stayed longer! This hotel was everything we could have hoped for and more. If you’re planning a trip to George Town, we highly recommend staying here—you won’t be disappointed.
From the very first moments checking into The Edison, for the entirety of our stay, we were assured that we were valued guests of the establishment. Nothing was too much trouble, we were consistently delighted by the service.
The hotel itself is glorious and gorgeous. A masterfully restored and updated turn of the century mansion, the design and finishes really bring the heritage values and feelings to life. It’s very evocative of a place and a time, and feels exactly appropriate to feel a part of the Unesco World Heritage Zone of Georgetown.
In particular, the efforts of the Operations Manager, Albert Tan, should be called out. From an email a few days before our checkin, asking what our interests are, and offering to make restaurant reservations for us, Albert was invested and encouraging to make sure we had the very best trip possible.
On checkin, Albert took the time to take us on a tour of the hotel, showing us the 24/7 lounge at the back, the gorgeous lap pool and the upstairs library. He gave us a map of the local area, with hand drawn suggestions for where to find the very best street food, restaurants, bars, cocktails and speakeasies.
Every morning, over a delightful continental breakfast in the lounge (yes, it’s a light breakfast, but you are in Georgetown, and there’s enormous scope for second breakfast!), we would be politely asked about our plans for the day, and in particular where we were planning to eat that night. The staff took the time to listen, provide suggestions, and on more than one occasion, call the restaurant to ensure we got the very best service.
We were delighted, on our last morning with the hotel, to be presented with a small birthday surprise. Just one of the many occasions on which the service at the Edison exceeded our expectations.
Had a great stay at the Edison recently for four nights. As many other reviews have said, this place is a diamond primarily due to the excellent staff and Albert.
Location is great and within general walking distance for most of the Georgetown activities. We really liked the breakfast concept as we’re not big breakfast eaters and the wine tasting on an evening. The general atmosphere both inside and outside is lovely. We didn’t use the pool but it looked fine. We were just too busy in Georgetown.
Albert was so incredibly helpful and made some fantastic recommendations which made our stay so special.
It was my good ladies Birthday and the team at the Edison did a fantastic job with the surprises and the celebrations. We planned in advance and executed perfectly on the day.
His restaurant recommendations were very good. Especially Bottega which was first class.
We read the reviews before going and knew there would be music from the food court over the road but to be honest it didnt bother us as it was generally dodgy pub singers but thankfully no boom boom bass. Therefore fine and it did stop at 11pm.
Our room was very good but we did not like the curtain concept between the bathroom and the bedroom. No privacy really.
We’d definately stay again and thank you so much Albert and the rest of the team for being so damn good at your jobs.
Great location. Walkable to almost anywhere In Georgetown but still not too centered and chaotic. The hotel offer complimentary 24 hrs refreshment lounge (coffee, tea, sodas, fruits and snack). This is great if you have in-between time for pre-check-in or post-check-out because of your flight. And of course their mini bar is complimentary as well. The hotel is charmingly renovated coupled with their friendly staffs whom are ready to chat and give you local suggestions.
Only little downside is the shower which was not operating well (perhaps this only happened at night (12:00am) when the system is off). And there are minor karaoke noises from the opposite restaurant which only closes at 12:00 am.
