Great little museum – absolutely worth visiting if you enjoy visually stimulating artwork, optical illusions and/or taking silly photos. The ticket includes a glas painting experience which was unique. There are some pre-outlines templates as well as templates you can trace. You can even make your own template free hand. The multiple options make the activity accessible for different ages and different levels of confidence in art based activities.
The staff is extremely attentive and helpful both while painting and while viewing the museum. Staff offered to take pictures for us as we walked around the museum but were also very comfortable leaving us to view it on our own terms.
Overall this museum is a great mixture of education, engagement and ripe with photo ops it’s clear that museum staff has thought about appealing to many different kinds of people and personalities.
Some exhibits do have flashing lights so people with neurological or sensory sensitivities may want to be cautious.
We originally planned to visit Glass Museum Penang on our second day in Penang, but unfortunately, it was closed due to Thaipusam, a public holiday in Penang. Not wanting to miss out, we decided to return two days later—and it was absolutely worth it! For RM60, my husband and I purchased a mini tour package, which included not just a guided tour of the museum but also a glass art-making session where we got to create our own designs and take them home as souvenirs.
The staff were incredibly helpful and patient. A special shoutout to a kind Chinese-Malay lady who helped fix my painting mistake (I accidentally painted it backward—oops!). Her assistance truly saved my artwork!
This activity is perfect for families with kids, couples, and students, but solo travelers would enjoy it just as much. If you’re looking for something fun and creative to do in Penang, this museum is a must-visit!
Love the place but not friendly to visitors. I brought my young niece to try out glass painting, there is no place I can wait for her or sit to keep an eye unless I pay the entrance fee. I told the staff I am not interested in the exhibit as I have been here before, all I want is wait for my young niece. In the end I had to sit in the car outside to wait. Doesn’t make sense right??
It was a great experience. My daughters enjoyed this museum and the glass art activity. The staff was very helpful and friendly, accompany us around and taking photos for us.
Interesting place to visit. You can see arts made of glass in various designs and purpose. They offer you chance to draw and color on a glass bottle which you can bring it back. Ticket RM30/person inclusive of the bottle art. Parking is limited. Besides that, there are few points in there to take photos.
